Under 14 Nationals wrap up!!

Congratulations to all 3 of our teams who all played their hearts out this week!

Our Under 14 Toki Girls who made Mountfort history this week by placing 1st at Division 1 Under 14 Nationals.🥇

We have only ever had two other teams medal at a National Division 1 Age Group Event (U14 Div Boys in 2016 who won Silver and the U14 Boys in 2017 who won Bronze).

What a huge accomplishment! Well done girls, Kurt (Coach), Roana (Assistant Coach) & Cilla (Manager).

As always thanks to all of our amazing coaches, managers, and volunteers who have dedicated hours of their time and expertise into making events like this happen!! :-)

And thanks to the parents, siblings, grandparents and friends for supporting your players!

Also, a big congrats to Scarlett Goldsworthy who was named MVP and Jenna Veal who was named MVP Goalie! 👏

Final placings:

Toki Girls team: 1st in Division 1

Toki Boys team: 11th in Division 1

Matau Girls team: 6th in Division 2

Tournament Report - Toki Boys:

Thursday rolled around pretty quickly! The boy's last game was against Harbour City Hawkes at Huia Pools in Lower Hutt - it was a hard-fought battle with some very tough calls made against our boys. The final score was 7/4 to Harbour City Hawkes (Loss). We came 11th out of 14 teams in the competition overall. The boy's goal for the tournament (set by themselves) was to place in the top 8 teams, unfortunately, this didn't happen but I recall the very wise words of Coach Harry during our final team talk, it went something like this... "our hard work and efforts didn't quite reflect our scores, but you can all walk away with your heads held high knowing that you tried your very best". We are so proud of these boys, on balance their behaviour in and out of the pool was exemplary and they represented the Mountfort Water Polo Club well. Now for the THANK YOUS :) Firstly thank you to Coaches Harry Wigley, Isaac Fuemana and Anthony Hannah for their expert help and advice imparted to the boys throughout the tournament. A big thank you also to Lawrence Kingi - one of the parents who helped me with everything. Thank you to Karolina Hannah our amazing photographer, and who was also really good company, thank you to our parents who sent constant messages of support via our Team Reach Group, thank you to Diana Harnett and Margaret Fuemana our talented Game Commentators!
