ANNOUNCEMENT: HEAD COACH FOR 2020
We are really pleased to introduce Luke Manthe, our new head coach at Mountfort Park Water Polo, commencing in January 2020.
Current head coach of Otago Water Polo, Luke is busy with the Under 14 season down south and until after National Championships. Fortunately for us, Luke decided to move to Auckland for a range of personal and lifestyle reasons next year, and his timing has coincided with our head coach vacancy. So, we are thrilled to be welcoming Luke to our club in 2020.
As most of you will know, our head coach for the last 5 years, Kurt Goldsworthy, is relinquishing the reins as he’s already in the demanding and full-time-plus job of NZ Water Polo’s High Performance Manager. Kurt is really pleased that our club is welcoming someone of Luke’s calibre, with great coaching credentials and international experience.
Luke has been head coach for a number of university and secondary school teams in South Africa and the UK. He led Pearson High School (RSA) to number 1 ranking in school water polo in 2017 and 2018. He has also been head coach for South Africa age group teams, and was assistant coach when South Africa men and women played in Russia and Australia in 2018 and early 2019.
Luke is excited to have an opportunity to build on the strong water polo foundation established by Kurt, along with Johnathon Ware and our other Mountfort Park coaches. He has huge passion for coaching and coach development, so looks forward to working alongside all our coaches to hear about their preferences, what they want to achieve and what they need from him next year.
If you know of any suitable accommodation options coming available in January 2020 (to board or flat), please be in touch so we can support Luke with a smooth transition to Auckland and our club (clubcaptain@mountfortwaterpolo.nz).
